The Cedar Creek Preserve

The Cedar Creek Preserve was acquired in the spring of 2007 entirely with membership dues and contributions, it is located on the main stream of Cedar Creek in Lacey Township, NJ. The parcel contains some 11 acres and is in the environmentally sensitive Pinelands Preservation Area. The tract is located on the north side of Lacey Road and is surrounded by Double Trouble State Park on three sides.

The parcel is almost entirely wetlands; pitch pine lowlands comprise much of the tract with the exception of an old blueberry field that is present on the property. Atlantic white cedar is present along the stream corridor, which has been classified by the state as a wild and scenic river. Although no plant or wildlife studies have been conducted on the parcel to date, suitable habitat exists for a variety of threatened and endangered plant and wildlife species. The land will be maintained in its natural state, with the exception of the possible revitalization of the old blueberry field.
